MWC 2012 Call for Storytellers

Do you want to help your fellow developers get on the path of enlightenment? The best way to learn how things really get done in mobile development is to hear it from those who have been there, done that AND bought the t-shirt.

So, if you’ve bought a few t-shirts and have the scars to show for your hard work and effort it’s not time to be shy.  We want some good details on what went wrong or what went really right.

Sign up by January 12, 2012 for your chance to speak at WIPJam @ App Planet on March 1st.

Here's what we are looking for:

1.   Discussion Leaders
We're always looking for great leaders to help with our deep-dive discussion groups. If you're interested in leading a discussion and helping other developers, give us a shout and let us know the topics you'd be interested in covering. We're always looking for technical and business experts; some recent topics have included: HTML5, cloud APIs, international app stores, selling to enterprises, polishing your Android app, cross-platform development and more. If you're an expert, let us know!  OR if you want to get your opinion in for which topics must be on the list – send that too to info@wipconnector.com

2.  Storytellers
Who makes a good Story Teller?
A pinch of humour and animation, a zest of ranting, a bunch of energy... and a good story of course! Need inspiration? Here are a few stories you might want to tell:

Financing
How I financed my business on credit cards.
How I got investors to see things my way.

Marketing
The Top Three Things we did to make our App make money.
The Top three Marketing tactics we would never use again ever.

Pivoting
How we came up with the best idea in the whole world, but had to change it because someone else did too.

Partnerships
How I got double crossed by my partner.
How partnerships enabled me to make millions.

How are the stories chosen?
We will work with our sponsors and Developer Advisory Board to choose four (4) great stories that provide enough meat and lessons learned for the audience to walk away enlightened about building and marketing their application.  It’s got to be a good story too – intrigue, romance, cliff-hangers are all welcome.  Keep in mind – this is NOT a pitch.  We have plenty of time for that during the Marketplace.

The Format
We will have time for 4 stories.  Each story is told for 10 minutes, and the audience gets to interact and ask you questions for 10 minutes.

How do I tell a good story?
That’s where we come in.  We will have a template for you to use so you capture your key points and don’t run over your 10 minutes.  Then we will provide a mentor session to go review and help you get it right.

I’ll be disappointed if I am not chosen....
No worries – we are actually looking for lots of great stories.  If you aren’t one of the big 4 for MWC, we will have other opportunities for you to share your story at other WIPJam sessions and on our blog and newsletter.  So lots of great opportunities for promotion for you too!

How to apply
Send us a short email to info@wipconnector.com and let us know:
- What is the type of your story?
- What was the cliff-hanger of your story?
- Why you would be a great story teller?
